Oskar Schindler (April 28, 1908 – September 10, 1974) was a Sudeten German industrialist credited with saving almost 1,200 Jews during the Holocaust by having them work in his enamelware and ammunitions factories located in what is now Poland and the Czech Republic respectively. He was the subject of the book Schindler's Ark, and the film based on it, Schindler's List.
