Another successful celebration of the Tillyfest in Breitenbrunn , a municipality in the district of Neumarkt, Bavaria in Germany is celebrated until today. The festival is still going on until now. Tomorrow it is over. We witnessed this afterrnoon the "Historische Festzug" or the historical parade. Tillyfest is celebrated every year. This year's celebration takes place on September 12 to 13. That was another interesting festival.

It is a celebration that commemorates the history of Breitenbrunn back around 385 years ago during the reign of the Count or Earl of Tilly, the Monarch of Breitenegg who lived and also ruled Breitenbrunn during those times. The name of this Count is Johann Tserclaes of Tilly.

Johann Tserclaes, Count of Tilly (Dutch: Johan 't Serclaes) (February 1559 - 30 April 1632), known as the Monk in Armor, was a Field Marshal who commanded the Imperial and Holy Roman Empire's forces in the Thirty Years' War. He had a string of important victories against the Bohemians, Germans and later the Danish, but was then defeated by forces led by the King Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden. Along with Duke Albrecht von Wallenstein of Friedland and Mecklenburg, he was one of two chief commanders of the Holy Roman Empire’s forces. read more


After asking permission to these nice people who participated during the festival, I posted this photo here. It is a festival worth visiting and it is only around 25 minutes drive from us.

After the parade, a play was also presented from a group coming from Prague, Czech Republic. That was a nice one.
