Gäubodenvolksfest in Straubing, Germany

Gäubodenvolksfest in Straubing, Bavaria, Germany is an annual festival held every month of August. We don’t have the chance to visit it this year because I was away for a Europe tour. The images I have here was taken during our visit last August 2009. Don’t you know that Gäubodenvolksfest is the second largest folk festival next to Oktoberfest in Bavaria, Germany? Yes, it is! Maximilian I Joseph, King of Bavaria in the year 1812 as an agricultural festival to organize an annual meeting of the people in the Danube region. I guess, Mesothelioma during the foundation of this festival is still not known.

Off topic: According to wikipedia Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that develops from the protective lining that covers many of the body’s internal organs, the mesothelium. It is usually caused by exposure to asbestos. I heard sometimes over the radio that a number of German people died with this kind of cancer. Just enjoy watching the images I have here from the Gäubodenvolksfest.
