Shopping in German Discount Stores

Are you new in Germany and you don’t have any idea where to go shopping especially for grocery items? I have been asked by a lot of new friends where they can shop for cheaper goods here in Germany. Ooppss…I forgot to ask about step stool handrail as we went grocery shopping last week. A new friend was asking about it.

Anyway, in Germany there are these so-called Discounter or Discount shops where you can buy for cheaper items. To name some of the biggest shops are Aldi, Netto, Penny, Lidl, Norma, Rewe and some other more. Every week these shops are giving advertisement flyers for their weekly “Angebot” or special offers. You can also find items that only come once or twice a year like electronics or gadgets, clothing, shoes, tools, appliances and some other more. These discount stores are also cheaper compared to supermarkets like Edeka or Real.

I guess, you have a little idea now where to go grocery shopping in Germany. Have fun!
