It is time to travel and see places again. I would love to share about Greece this time. I haven’t been to this country yet and I heard from a friend that it is one of the most interesting countries to visit in Europe. She also mentioned about nice and affordable villas in Greece to stay. She even gave me some tips and information about her travel to Greece early this year. Thanks a lot for all the information.
Greece is a country full of history. It is located in Southern Europe, on the southernmost tip of the Balkan peninsula. I am planning to visit this country this coming summer season. That is also the reason why, I am already searching for the most interesting cities to visit in Greece.
Here are the top 3 cities in my wishlist:
I had seen a lot of images from my friend during her travel here. For me, visiting Greece without seeing its capital city is nothing. Alone in Athens, there are already a lot of interesting sights to see here. Everytime I think of its famous landmark, the Parthenon, I already imagine seeing the whole of Greece. I wanted to see Acropolis, Syntagma Square, Plaka, Monastiraki, Thissio, Nea Smyrni and Zografou in my future visit to Athens.
You can imagine traveling back to the medieval times because Rhodes is known to be the oldest inhabited medieval town in Europe. For sure, the best way of seeing and exploring this city is through walking. I will see to it that I will not miss seeing Rhodes Old Town. It is considered to be one of the best preserved and most extensive medieval towns in Europe and also belong to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site. Other sights to see includes; Rhodes Archaeological Museum, Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes, Town hall, Archbishops Palace and some other more.
It is the largest island in Greece and also the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. Crete belongs to one of the important cultural heritage of Greece. It is located in the south of the Aegean Sea. Crete is now considered to be one of the famous popular destinations in Greece. I would love to especially visit Heraklion, the largest city with the archaeological highlight named Knossos. Go walking in the mountains or along the beaches of Balos Lagoon and Elafonissi can be a wonderful experience in Crete. For accommodation, I found that there are villas in Crete that are quite cheap and affordable.
There are still a lot of beautiful places to see in Greece. To mention a few are Corfu, Santorini, Thessaloniki, Delphi, Mykonos and Olympia. I believed visiting Greece can be a memorable and interesting experience considering its historical and architectural diversity.
