Travel and Explore Bamberg in Bavaria, Germany

It’s been a year now since we visited the city of Bamberg. I actually visited it twice but in my second visit. we were not able to go to the city center or the Old City. The whole town of Bamberg is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its historical architecture and well-preserved heritage.

Some of the main sights are the Bamberg Cathedral, Alte Alte Hofhaltung, Old Town Hall, Klein-Venedig (“Little Venice”), Neue Residenz, Michaelsberg Abbey and the Altenburg, castle.

Here are some of the snaphots I took last October 2010.

Old Town Hall (1386), built in the middle of the Regnitz River, accessible by two bridges.

the Klein-Venedig (“Little Venice”), a colony of picturesque fishermen’s houses from the 19th century along one side of the river Regnitz. You can see at the background the Michaelsberg Abbey, built in the 12th century on one of Bamberg’s “Seven Hills”

Alte Hofhaltung, residence of the bishops in the 16th and 17th centuries.
