The Wedding Festival in Landshut

This is one of the most interesting  celebration I witnessed in Bavaria, Germany. The Landshuter Hochzeit, called in English as the Landshut Wedding commemorates the wedding between Hedwig, the Polish King’s daughter, and George, the son of the Duke of Landshut in 1475.

During this festival, you can see the participants wearing colorful medieval costumes. There are also street performers dancing to the beats of drums and guitars. You have to fix your guitar if you want to attend this kind of festival. It is very interesting listening to the music during the medieval times. I simply love it.

I read in one of their flyers that if you want to visit this celebration, you are welcome to also wear costumes that fits the said event. Sad to say, I read it after we visited it last July 2009.

This wonderful event only takes place once a year. The next one comes in 2013. I wish to go back there again next year.
