The Port of Kiel, Germany

Kiel is the capital and largest city of the federal state of  Schleswig-Holstein.  This city is known to be one of the major maritime centres of Germany.

How I wish we have more time to explore the city of Kiel but  for an hour stop-over, you cannot really visit most of the sights. We just stayed most of the time in the Port of Kiel.  has also been one of the traditional homes of the German Navy’s Baltic fleet, and continues to be a major high-tech shipbuilding centre.

During our one hour  stay, we just went walking  the port. There are shops nearby and a mall.  We also ate in one of the kiosk restaurants nearby.

Our trip to the Baltic actually started here in Kiel. We boarded one of the  ships going to Klaipeda in Lithuania. That was quite a long travel but  it was all worth it.

I still want to visit Kiel in the future.

did you just see the sign? Port of Kiel.
