Christmas Markets in Thuringia

Christkindlesmarkt, Christkindlmarket, Christkindlmarkt, Weihnachtsmarkt, these are German words for  Christmad markets. Yes, this is the best time of the year to experience this street market which is associated with the celebration of Christmas.

I already experienced a lot of Christmas markets in Europe especially in Germany and I always love it.  I have a good news because I already booked a trip to Thuringia or Thüringen  in German. It is one of the 16 states of Germany. I will be traveling alone since most of  my friends are busy with the holiday season.

The famous Christmas market in Nuremberg or Nuernberg. I was there for many times and this was taken last December 2011.

Among the places that we will be visiting are Jena (town of the biggest university in Thuringia  and home to Goethe and Schiller, too), Weimar and  Erfurt (the state capital). I can’t  wait to visit these places in 11 days. I am counting.

I will be sharing photos once  the trip is over. For now, let me share some snapshots I took from the Christmas markets I visited in Germany.

Christmas market in Regensburg, Bavaria last December 2011.
