Exercising the Right of Suffrage in Germany during Landtag Election

This post is pending for some days now. In fact, 5 days ago. It is still in my draft folder  and I promised to myself, I have to finish it before the   Landtag  and Bundestag elections  come.  And yes, I am exercising  the right of suffrage during the election  for Landtag this coming Sunday, September 15, 2013. This is one of the rights and freedom  I can exercise as a citizen of  Germany.  This is one of the things where I can express my choice which  candidate or candidates  to choose  for the position.

I have been watching some news, debates, reportage and updates about the incoming election on German television about the different candidates and their parties including their projects and platform of government. The past weeks, we also received some advertisements of some candidates who are running for the Landtag election. I also noticed when I drive along the roads, billboards and flyers of candidates are also being hanged.

If I am not mistaken, this is already the fourth time that I will be exercising my freedom of suffrage in Germany, in different elections. It is good to be a citizen of this beautiful and progressive country. I just hope that all the voters are given the wisdom and courage to vote the right candidate for the right position this coming election.

To give you a bit idea about Landtag, I consulted wikipedia about its meaning. Here it is;

“A Landtag (English: State Diet) is a representative assembly or parliament in German-speaking countries with legislative authority and competence over a Land (state). Often these assemblies are the legislative bodies for the federated states of a country, such in Austria and Germany where they serve as state legislatures for the individual Länder, and have authority to legislate in non-federal matters for the regional area.”

To all candidates in Landtag who are running this year, good luck and may the best man win! God bless you all..God bless Germany and the whole world!
