Travel and Explore Beilngries in Bavaria

Let's visit this time a town in the district of Eichstätt, in Bavaria, Germany. Beilngries is situated on the river Altmühl and the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal, 30 km north of Ingolstadt.

We visited this town last July 2009. They had a so-called Volfsfest celebration during our visit last time. It is a kind of a fair or festival where you can see live bands performing at the town center. Different kiosks and stalls selling products and services were also found during the said festival.

group of kids performing on the street during the Volksfest. The played good as we were watching them.
tents on the side where you can cool down with some German beers or cold drinks. You can also order some menus..why not try the German delicacies especially their sausages.

view of Beilngries near the castle. I forgot now the name of that castle.
I just asked hubby and he said that the name of the castle is Burg Hirschberg..such a nice view of the town from here.

Travel and Explore The Volkfest in Beilngries, Bavaria

We had the chance to visit the Volksfest or the so-called festival in Beilngries last July 2009. There were some activities going around the town. As usual, you can see small beer tents where people had fun drinking beer and eating German food. Live bands were also present. You can also see a lot of old but historical buildings here. This is common in Germany and I am always fascinated on how the Germans preserved buildings like these.

Beilngries is a town in the district of Eichstätt, in Bavaria, Germany. It is situated on the river Altmühl and the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal, 30 km north of Ingolstadt. It is around an hour drive from where we live. Here are some of the pictures HB took of me.

We will try to visit this festival this year when time permits.
You can still see wrought- iron guild signs hanging on the shops here like you see in my picture.

I love that red wooden decorations they put on that building in my background. You can also see beer tents in the picture above. Witnessing different festivals in Germany is one thing I love in this country.

Travel and Explore Schloss Hirschberg in Beilgries, Bavaria

This is Schloss Hirschberg, a castle in in Beilgries, Bavaria. We visited this place last July of this year. THis was built from 1170 until 1200 by the Counts from Grögling und Dollnstein. Hb took this photo before the entrance of the castle. This is now an educational and training center and is also open for visit to the public. I just love history and architectures like this. I guess that's all for now. Enjoy watching the photos here.

Travel and Explore Beilngries in Bavaria

Hello everyone! Just a short update for today. We visited last Sunday the Altstadfest or Old City festival in Beilngries, a town in the district of Eichstätt, in Bavaria, Germany. It is situated on the river Altmühl and the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal, 30 km north of Ingolstadt. This town attracts more tourists because of these canals where boat cruises are available.

We had the chance to look around the town last time. As usual, I always noticed the old but beautiful and colourful buildings in this area. We also had the chance to go inside their beautiful Parish Church named St. Walburga. There were a lot of people who visited the festival. It was again another great Sunday for me.
